Hair Structure
Hair shafts consist of 3 parts: Cuticle, Medulla and Cortex.
Keratin is a natural protein high in sulphur and amino acids that already exists in your hair, which makes it tough, elastic and insoluble. It has been determined that a good dose of keratin applied directly to your hair can repair it from its very core, and recover the strength, elasticity and moisture that is lost through the years.
The Global Keratin treatment is actually kind on your hair and works by repairing your hair while easing away curls, taking out the frizz and unlocking waves or kinks wherever they occur. Keratin is infused into the hair locking in protein to leave your hair more shiny and packed with vitality.

Hair Before GKT Hair After GKT
The cuticle is the outer layer of hair shaft, which is made up of overlapping transparent keratin cells. It works like protective scales and defines smoothness and shininess - because it can be seen and touched. The cuticle may get damaged by chemical processes, overexposure to sunlight (UV), too much heat from a dryer, abusive brushing and combing, over-chlorinated swimming pool water, etc.
The cortex is where moisture and natural pigment (called "melanin") are held.
The Medulla is the core of hair shaft.
Damaged hair/cuticle cannot be repaired by itself once it is damaged.
